PITCHSHIFTER Axeman Hits The Road With THE PRODIGY!

PITCHSHIFTER guitarist Jim Davies will be reuniting with his former band THE PRODIGY for the latter group's The Big Day Out festival tour of Australia and Japan in January of 2002. The trek will mark the first time Jim has played live with THE PRODIGY since 1996. According to Davies, “I'm very flattered and excited about being asked to do this tour. I love the band and have done some great things with them in the past, so I couldn't really say no!”. Jim insisted that his decision to tour with THE PRODIGY will in no way affect his standing in the PITCHSHIFTER camp. “I spoke to the [PITCHSHIFTER] guys about doing THE PRODIGY tour before I agreed to do it, and they were really cool and supportive of the idea. PITCHSHIFTER are taking a well deserved break after an intensive recording period in January anyway, so it felt right to do it.”

Currently ensconced at The Shop Studios in Hoboken, New Jersey with producer Machine, PITCHSHIFTER have completed all the recordings for their upcoming studio album, tentatively entitled PSI, and are preparing to begin the mixing process, which is scheduled to be finished by Christmas. Stated vocalist J.S. Clayden, “Mixing is crunch time on any record. It's when you put all the months of work together to finally have the finished tunes. The recording of this record has been super smooth and I know Machine is the man to get a great mix. I can't wait to hear the finished thing!” Producer Machine was equally enthusiastic about the project: “[PITCHSHIFTER's] www.pitchshifter.com was one of the personal favorite records in my career. It was semi-intimidating for me to try and top that record, but PITCHSHIFTER and Machine make a great team and we've managed to do it again 2002 style!”
